It’s Not Always About Starting Over

When people talk about changing careers, it often sounds like you have to drop everything and start from scratch. But for me, a career change isn’t about jumping into something totally new. It can just be a pause—a chance to explore other things that interest you.

When I was younger, choosing a career was all about making money or going where the opportunities took me. And that’s what I did. It made sense at the time because I needed financial stability. I worked in IT industry

for years, and it gave me valuable experience. But as I got older, more secure, and started to understand myself better, my approach to my career shifted.

It wasn’t that I suddenly wanted something totally different; I just wanted something that felt more in line with who I had become. Financial stability gave me the freedom to pause and think about what I truly wanted, instead of just following the next opportunity. That’s when I made the switch from corporate life to the beauty industry—something I’d always been passionate about but hadn’t pursued earlier.

For me, this wasn’t about “starting over” or “escaping” my old career. It was about adding a new dimension to my life and doing something that felt more meaningful. Sometimes, a career change doesn’t mean leaving behind everything you know. It’s more about allowing yourself to evolve and explore what else is out there.
